Morgan City beats Patterson

Morgan City High School used a big fourth quarter to defeat Patterson High, 48-35, Monday.
Trailing 32-24 entering the fourth quarter, Morgan City equaled its combined output from the first three periods with a 24-point fourth quarter.
The Lady Tigers limited Patterson to just three points — all free throws — in the fourth quarter.
Laqwaijha Bourgeois scored 16 of her 26 points in the fourth quarter for Morgan City.
Patterson led 15-14 after the first quarter and 23-20 at halftime.
Bourgeois led Morgan City with 26 points.
Other scorers for Morgan City included Meya Morse with eight; Steveyion Walker and Elicia Dorsey with four each; Nakerial Bourgeois, three; Alisha Singleton, two; and Samyra, one.
Alex Benjamin led Patterson with 17 points, while Nakia Brooks and Gaylen Grogan each scored seven and Erykah Singleton and Jazmin Evans each added two.
Morgan City (6-4) will return to action Friday when it hosts South Lafourche at 5:30 p.m.
Patterson (4-5) will hit the court again this week when it plays in Hanson’s tournament.
CCHS falls at
Jack Becker Classic
The Central Catholic Lady Eagles finished 0-3 at Vandebilt Catholic’s Jack Becker Classic, falling Friday to Terrebonne, 43-15, and Saturday to Vandebilt Catholic, 56-15; and to Houma Christian, 59-23.
In the game against Terrebonne, Terrebonne Terrebonne took a 16-0 lead after the first quarter and led 24-2 at halftime and 37-4 after three quarters.
The Lady Eagles outscored Terrebonne 11-6 in the final period.
Hallie Autin led Central Catholic with 12 points, four steals and six rebounds.
Other top contributors included Taylor Picou, two points, one steal and two rebounds; Rebecca David, a point and three rebounds; and Sydney Williams, six rebounds.
Against Vandebilt Catholic, host squad took a 19-3 lead after the first period led 39-6 at halftime and 50-12 after three quarters.
Autin led Central Catholic with seven points, two steals, one assist and one rebound, while Blanchard had six points and Picou, two points, four steals and two rebounds.
Against Houma Christian, the Houma school took a 10-0 lead after the first quarter, led 32-10 at halftime and 45-15 after three quarters.
Hanna McCue led Central Catholic with eight points and three rebounds, while Autin had seven points, one steal and six rebounds.
Other top contributors included Williams, four points, one steal and six rebounds; Picou, two points, one steal, three assists and four rebounds; and Blanchard, two points, one steal and one rebound.
Central Catholic’s game against Franklin Wednesday has been postponed. The Lady Eagles (2-7) now will return to action again Dec. 23 when it hosts Teurlings Catholic.
Morgan City falls
The Morgan City Tigers fell to Plaquemine 50-29 in Plaquemine Friday.
No individual stats were available.
Morgan City (6-3) will return to action Friday when it hosts South Lafourche.
Patterson begins
its season today
The Patterson Lumberjacks will kick off their 2014-15 season today when they host Jeanerette. Junior varsity action is set for a 5:30 p.m. start with varsity to follow.
