Vandebilt Catholic defeats Morgan City

The Morgan City Lady Tigers dropped their first District 7-4A contest of the season to Vandebilt Catholic, 45-32, Friday.
While Vandebilt Catholic took a 12-9 lead after the first quarter, Morgan City edged its visitors from Houma 9-8 in the scoring column in the second period to cut its deficit to 20-18 at the half.
However, Vandebilt Catholic pulled away in the third and fourth quarters outscoring Morgan City 16-9 in the third period and 9-5 in the fourth.
Alisha Singleton led Morgan City with 13 points, while Laqwaijha Bourgeois also reached double figures with 12 points.
Other scorers for Morgan City included Casey Chenevert, three points; and Elicia Dorsey and Meya Morse, two points each.
Morgan City (6-7 overall, 0-1 in district) will return to action Tuesday when it travels to face Assumption in District 7-4A action. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
Vermilion Catholic routs Central Catholic
Vermilion Catholic rolled past Central Catholic 53-12 in District 7-1A action in Abbeville Friday.
Vermilion Catholic, ranked No. 3 in the latest unofficial Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 1A power rankings, jumped out to a 22-5 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The home standing squad kept Central Catholic scoreless in the second and third periods while extending its lead to 32-5 at the half and 45-5 after three quarters.
Vermilion Catholic outscored Central Catholic 8-7 in the fourth quarter for the final margin.
Hallie Autin was the lone scorer for Central Catholic and had 12 points and three rebounds.
Central Catholic (4-12, 1-2) will return to action Tuesday when it hosts Hanson in a 6 p.m. contest.
Berwick falls to
North Vermilion
The Berwick Lady Panthers fell at North Vermilion, 46-11 Friday.
North Vermilion took a 19-2 lead after the first quarter and led 35-5 at the half.
The home standing squad extended its lead to 41-8 after three quarters.
Brittany Boudreaux, Mickenzie Reed and Tesha Jones all had three points for Berwick, while Jenna Beiza had two.
Berwick (0-9) will return to action Tuesday when it travels to face Patterson in a 6 p.m. contest.
