Castaneda-Mayer wed at Sacred Heart

Kayci Elizabeth Castaneda and Coby James Mayer were joined in holy matrimony May 15 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morgan City. The Rev. Greg Fratt officiated the 6 p.m. double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Luis Castaneda and Rheba Castaneda, both of Morgan City. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Craig Mayer of Franklin.
For the ceremony, floral arrangements of blue delphinium and flowers reflecting the bridesmaids’ bouquets flanked the altar. White bows with pearl edging and royal blue draping lined both sides of the aisle. At the back of the church were two wreaths, with a center initial “M,” wrapped in white and light-green fresh flowers.
Music was by organist Lee Leblanc, vocalists Bethanie Thibodaux and Noah Castaneda, and violinist Gina Doran.
Escorted in marriage by her father, the bride wore an A-line gown in floor-length ivory fashioned with a lace overlay. Crystal and pearl beading lined the sweetheart neckline and waist detail. Ivory and crystal buttons flowed down the back of the gown to the train. Completing her look was diamond earrings, a gift from the groom; and pear-shaped dangle earrings in navy blue crystal, a gift from Elisabeth “Beth” Portero.
Her veil, borrowed from Beth Portero, was lined with lace and sequins.
She carried a one-of-a-kind brooch bouquet created of hand-picked brooches including antique brooches which were a gift from her grandmother Sheran Blanchard of Morgan City and an initial brooch which was a gift from her uncle Virgil Castaneda of California. Mary Thompson created the bouquet, and wedding and reception florals as a gift to the bride.
Ashley Concienne was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Beth Portero, Summer Arcemont, Sierra Mathis and Mary Thompson. Madeleine “Maddy” Karpan was junior bridesmaids.
Bridal attendants each wore a floor-length strapless dress of horizon blue satin with a brooch accent on the left side. Accentuating each attendants’ ensemble was a hair brooch, a pearl and crystal bracelet and clear Swarovski dangle earrings, a gift from the bride.
They each had a bouquet of white hydrangeas, light-green peonies and ranunculus, and white daisies. Completing the bouquet was an ivory ribbon stem wrap dressed with a pearl brooch encircled with clear rhinestones.
Flower girl was Elizabeth Patterson.
Courtney Mayer was his brother’s best man. Groomsmen were Christopher Castaneda, brother of the bride, Adam Molaison, Nicholas Molaison and Gage Rodriguez. Noah Castaneda, brother of the bride, was junior groomsman.
Ushers were Brennon Arcemont, Jason Concienne, Trent Williams and Leif Thompson.
A reception followed at the Petroleum Club of Morgan City.
Wedding colors of royal blue and light green were highlighted in the decor. Fresh flowers decorated the entrance, dining tables and the food table. Royal blue overlays were on dining tables, a white rose overlay adorned the entrance table and an antique ivory overlay accented the cake table.
The wedding cake was a five-tiered confection in ivory featuring white sponge cake with Bavarian cream, chocolate chip fudge and strawberry fillings. Flowers matching the bridesmaids’ bouquets were placed between the tiers.
The groom’s two-layer chocolate cake had raspberry filling. It depicted a golf theme with brown stripes on the bottom layer, and light green and dark green checkered pattern on the top layer. Topping the cake was a small flag and golf tee holding the gold ball the groom used to propose.
Helping with the reception were Michelle Prince, Taylor Prince and Tanya Cruz.
Prior to the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at The Atchafalaya Golf Course clubhouse near Patterson.
The bride is a 2009 graduate of Central Catholic High School in Morgan City and a 2013 graduate of Nicholls State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing. She is a registered nurse in the intensive care unit at Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City, a part-time instructor at Atchafalaya 24 Hour Fitness in Morgan City and a Rodan and Fields skincare consultant.
