Swords-Welch wed March 13

Calyn Lee Swords and Lawrence Austin Welch III were married during a 6:30 p.m. double-ring ceremony March 13 at The Old Governor’s Mansion in Baton Rouge. The Rev. Ginny Allen officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Michael Lee Swords and Brenda Swords Simon, both of Patterson, and the late Jesse Willard Simon.
The groom is the son of Lawrence Welch Jr. of Amelia and Anita Welch Cousson of New Iberia.
For the ceremony held in front of the Rose Garden fountain, the fountain ledge held two cascading arrangements of seeded eucalyptus, gold magnolia leaves, agonis and heather around focal-point flowers in pink, white and ivory. Each arrangement was grouped with mixed-height cylinder vases with pillar candles.
Music was by the Rewind Band Brass Quartet.
Escorted by her parents, the bride was attired in a designer soft-white gown of organza fashioned with a strapless, draped bodice and a hand-cut bias with flange skit. The fit-and-flare gown had a modern cathedral train.
Her two-tiered veil was cathedral length with a raw edge.
She carried a modern cascade bouquet featuring a variety of roses including miniature pink roses and garden roses. Her bouquet also featured other seasonal blooms and hyacinth, plumose, variegated English ivy and ranunculus greenery.
Angelena Swords Brocato was her sister’s matron of honor. She wore a black strapless gown with a shutter peplum and mini train.
Bridesmaids, dressed identical to the matron of honor, were Bridget Thomas Levingston, Kayla Cordray Guillot, Miranda Knott Weinbach, cousin of the bride and Catherine Percle Patureau.
Bridal attendants carried a smaller version of the bride’s bouquet which included large roses, double tulips and spray roses in Majolica pink and ivory, and golden greenery accents.
Ringbearers were Rocco Marion Simon Brocato, godchild of the bride and Luca Drago Swords Brocato, nephew of the bride.
Eric Patureau served as best man. Groomsmen were Lyle Brocato, brother-in-law of the bride; Kevin Fryou Jr.; Jeremy Foret, cousin of the groom; Greg Corrales and Steven Siracusa.
Ushers were Jeffrey Foret, cousin of the groom and Stephen McReynolds.
A reception immediately followed.
The four-tiered, buttercream wedding cake was white and gold. Adorning the confection was white and pink roses and seeded eucalyptus draped across the middle tiers. Topping the cake was a “Best Day Ever” cake topper.
For the cocktail hour held on the front lawn, guests dined on crispy oysters with jalapeno tartar, miniature empanadas and champagne. In the ballroom, guests were treated to a buffet that included sundried tomato and roasted artichoke cheese torte with pine nuts and pesto served with grape clusters and homemade crostinis, balsamic grilled vegetables, gourmet olives, hummus, crawfish and roasted shallot pasta, smoked pork tenderloin and more.
Prior to the wedding, the wedding couple and Mr. and Mrs. Stephen McReynolds hosted a rehearsal dinner at Ninfa’s Mexican Restaurant in Baton Rouge.
The bride is owner of Party Girl Events. The groom is employed with Oceaneering International.
They honeymooned in the Dominican Republic and reside in Patterson.
