Chi Chapter attends Southwest District meeting
St. Mary Parish’s Chi Chapter of Epsilon State, Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, attended the society’s Southwest District meeting Oct. 5 at the Acadia Parish Educational Center in Crowley. Approximately 90 district members attended.
Committee reports during the first general session offered details for projects and responsibilities to be assumed by all local chapters as part of this year’s program platform, “Lights, Camera, Action: Together Creating Infinite Possibilities.”
Four Chi Chapter members serve as Southwest District committee representatives. They are Annette Carr, Achievement Award; Emily Guillotte, Legislative/U.S. Forum; Dawn Chaisson, First Timers and Mary Ann Hebert, Leadership Development. They each delivered a presentation for their respective committees.
The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International is an honor society for women educators. Membership is based upon success in teaching, professionalism and evidence of leadership qualities.
Epsilon State of Louisiana is composed of six districts, totaling 55 local chapters. The Louisiana State membership has more than 2,000 members.
The organization’s purposes include uniting women educators in fellowship, encouraging the professional growth of members and lending support to desirable legislation in the interest of education.
