4 people arrested in Berwick meth distribution case

Four people were charged Saturday in a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office investigation into complaints of two people selling meth out of a Berwick residence, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Eric Driskill, 39, of the 3100 block of Second Street in Berwick, was arrested at 7:21 p.m. Saturday on the charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of Schedule II Oxycodone, possession of Legend Drug Folbee without a prescription, possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zone), possession of Schedule III Subutex, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance.
—Mary Driskill, 59, of the 3100 block of Second Street in Berwick, was arrested at 7:21 p.m. Sunday on the charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of Schedule II Oxycodone, possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zone), possession of Schedule III Subutex and possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance.
—Gary Driskill, 62, of the 3100 block of Second Street in Berwick, was arrested at 7:21 p.m. Saturday on the charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zone), possession of Schedule III Subutex and possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance.
—Kathryn Vines, 42, of the 3100 block of Second Street in Berwick, was arrested at 7:21 p.m. Saturday on the charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zone), possession of Schedule III Subutex and possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics detectives, conducting a joint investigation with the Berwick Police Department, executed a no knock search warrant at a residence in the 3100 block of Second Street in Berwick.
The warrant was the result of an investigation into complaints that Eric Driskill and Mary Driskill were selling methamphetamine at the residence, Hebert said. While conducting the search, detectives located bags of methamphetamine, Oxycodone pills, several firearms, and several items of drug paraphernalia including digital scales and pipes, the sheriff said. Gary Driskill and Vines were also located inside the residence, Sheriff’s Office Spokeswoman Traci Landry said.
The residence is located one block away from two churches. Detectives also learned that Eric Driskill is a convicted felon. Following the investigation, all four suspects were jailed.
Hebert reported responding to 82 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Ashanta August, 17, of the 300 block of Belanger Street in Morgan City, at 4:02 p.m. Friday on a warrant for possession of marijuana. Narcotics detectives made contact with August at an apartment complex on La. 182 in Morgan City on the warrant. Detectives released August on a summons to appear in court June 17.
—Addie Guidry, 36, of the 1900 block of River Road in Berwick, at 12:55 p.m. Friday on the charges of possession of Legend Drug Gabapentin without a prescription, and on a warrant for possession of Schedule II Xanax and possession of Legend Drug Gabapentin without a prescription.
Narcotics detectives located Guidry at her residence on the warrant. During a search of Guidry, detectives located several Gabapentin pills, Hebert said. Guidry was jailed with no bail set.
—A juvenile male, 11, of Franklin, at 12:59 p.m. Friday on the charge of simple battery. A deputy assigned to the St. Mary Alternative School in Verdunville observed a student punch another student while in the cafeteria, Hebert said. The juvenile was released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.
—Anthony Pennison, 43, of the 100 block of Lori Lane in Patterson, at 6:25 p.m. Friday on the charges of simple battery and disturbing the peace. A deputy responded to a complaint of a fight in progress on Shannon Lane in Patterson.
The deputy learned that Pennison started an altercation with a male victim striking him in the head multiple times, Hebert said. Pennison was jailed and later released on a summons to appear in court June 17.
Morgan City Assistant Police Chief Mark Griffin Jr. reported the following arrests:
—Brandon G. Griffin, 20, of Morgan City, at 9:22 p.m. Sunday on the charges of reckless operation of a moving vehicle, flight from an officer, no insurance, switched license plate, no vehicle registration, no motor vehicle inspection and no driver’s license.
A patrolling officer observed a speeding motorcycle traveling on U.S. 90 and was able to determine that the vehicle was speeding 140 mph in a 70 mph zone with radar, police said. The operator, upon seeing police officers increased his speed and continued on, police said.
The officers alerted other units and officers were able to locate the motorcycle on Myrtle Street. The driver, Griffin, advised officers that he was speeding while traveling to church. He could not produce a valid driver’s license nor any documents related to his motorcycle such as inspection and registration, police said.
The vehicle’s license plate was determined to be switched. Griffin admitted to officers, that after observing the police units, he sped to speeds exceeding 170 mph, police said. He was jailed and released after posting cash bail.
—Demarcus D. Holly, 19, of Friendship Alley in Amelia, at 7:11 p.m. Friday on the charges of possession of marijuana second offense, possession of Schedule IV Xanax, and introduction of contraband into a penal institution.
Holly was arrested by officers after he reported to the Morgan City jail to serve time. Holly was suspected of introducing illegal narcotics into the jail facility and was searched. During the search, Holly was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana along with several pills of Xanax hidden in his clothing. He was jailed.
—Brandon McClendon, 27, of Headland Street in Morgan City, at 9:06 p.m. Friday on the charge of driving under suspension and a warrant for failure to pay restitution on the charge of criminal damage to property.
An officer observed a vehicle with improper lighting in the area of Headland Street and Railroad Avenue and stopped the vehicle to speak with the driver. The driver, McClendon, was discovered to be operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. He was also found to be wanted on an outstanding warrant for the Sixth Ward City Court of Morgan City. He was jailed.
—John C. Aucoin, 33, of Delmar Street in Morgan City, at 2:04 a.m. Saturday on a warrant charging him with theft (value $200).
Aucoin was located near the intersection of Franklin and Sixth streets. The warrant stemmed from a complaint from December 2014 accusing Aucoin of the theft of appliances. He was jailed.
—Marc A. Mireles, 22, of Levee Road in Morgan City, at 6:38 p.m. Saturday on the charges of driving while intoxicated, reckless operation of a moving vehicle and disturbing the peace.
Officers were dispatched to Lake End Park in Morgan City regarding a disturbance. Officers were advised that the person involved in the disturbance was leaving the park in a vehicle. Officers observed the vehicle leaving the area and attempted to stop the vehicle, Griffin said.
The driver continued at a high rate of speed with a passenger in the rear cargo area of the vehicle. The passenger appeared to be holding on to the vehicle due to the speed and reckless operation, Griffin said. The vehicle was detained on Victor II Boulevard and the driver, Mireles, was found in an impaired condition, Griffin said. He submitted to a field sobriety test, which he did poorly on, Griffin said.
Mireles was given an Intoxilyzer 5000 test, which indicated a blood alcohol concentration of .270 grams-percent. He was jailed.
—Michael Crouch, 28, of Third Street in Morgan City, at 12:11 p.m. Sunday on a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant on the charge of theft of more than $500 and resisting an officer.
Officers responded to a complaint of a disturbance at a Third Street residence and located Crouch. Crouch attempted to flee from the officers and was pursued and eventually subdued, Griffin said. He was jailed.
—Josue Alvarenga, 31, of Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, at 4:25 a.m. Sunday on the charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, hit and run driving, careless operation of a moving vehicle and no driver’s license.
Officers were dispatched to the area of Brashear and Federal avenues in regards to debris in the roadway. Officers located the debris and a vehicle in the area, which had attempted to leave the scene with damage and evidence of a collision. Officers located the driver, Alvarenga, was appeared impaired. Alvarenga failed a field sobriety test, Griffin said. He registered .212 grams-percent blood alcohol content on the Intoxilyzer 5000 test and was jailed.
—Douglas Moreno, 21, of Diane Place Street in Rose, at 12:44 p.m. Sunday on the charges of driving under suspension, no vehicle registration, switched license plate, no insurance, and hit and run driving.
Officers were dispatched to a vehicle crash on Levee Road in Morgan City and learned that Moreno, while operating a vehicle, had struck a parked vehicle and attempted to leave the scene, Griffin said. Moreno was eventually stopped by witnesses and detained until police arrived. Moreno was jailed.
—India M. Labry, 18, of Franklin, at 9:16 p.m. Sunday on the charges of operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license and improper lighting.
An officer observed a vehicle traveling without headlights in the area of Ditch Avenue and La. 182 and stopped the vehicle to investigate. The driver, Labry, was found to be operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license, and was jailed.
—Gerald Ohmer, 59, of Helen Drive in Morgan City, at 2:09 a.m. today on the charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and careless operation.
An officer observed a vehicle being driven in a reckless manner in the area of Roderick Street and attempted to stop the vehicle. The vehicle continued at a high rate of speed, eventually pulling into a Helen Street residence. The driver, Ohmer, was found to be in an impaired condition, holding onto his vehicle for balance, Griffin said. Ohmer refused to cooperate when given an opportunity to submit to a field sobriety test, Griffin said. He also refused to submit to an Intoxilyzer 5000 test which he refused. He was jailed.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Jennifer Causey, 28, of the 1400 block of Hickory Street in Patterson, at 6:35 p.m. Sunday on the charge of theft by shoplifting less than $100 (value-$12.80) Causey was released on $1,065 bail.
—Nevis Sterling, 24, of the 1700 block of Prairie Road in Franklin, at 6:54 p.m. Sunday on the charge of obstruction of the roadway and disturbing the peace intoxicated. Sterling was jailed on $605 bail.
—Janketha Henry, 31, of the 100 block of Emerite Drive in Lafayette, at 10:28 p.m. Sunday on the charge of disturbing the peace by fighting. Henry was released on $413 cash bail.
—Byron Dugas, 31, of the 100 block of Emerite Drive in Lafayette, at 10:28 p.m. Sunday on the charge of disturbing the peace by fighting. Dugas was released on $413 cash bail.
—Adrian Green, 25, of the 1400 block of Live Oak Street in Patterson, at 11:18 p.m. Sunday on the charges of driving while intoxicated first offense, careless operation, no proof of insurance and open container in a vehicle. Green was jailed with no bail set yet.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Wayne Bridget, 56, of Sixth Street in Berwick, at 10:30 a.m. Friday on Lafourche Parish warrants for failure to appear on the charges of driving while intoxicated second offense, driving left of center and probation violation, failure to appear to pay fines on the charges of DWI second offense and driving left of center, failure to show proof of home incarceration, proof of substance abuse and community service work. Bridget was transferred to Lafourche Parish authorities.
—Corey Aleksines, 19, of Rose Street in Berwick, at 3 p.m. Sunday on a warrant charging him with simple arson. Aleksines was awaiting bail to be set.
—Tony Weston, 39, of Fifth Street in Berwick, at 9:25 p.m. Sunday on the charge of disturbing the peace eighth offense. Weston posted $295 bail.
