Baldwin police chief slates ‘meet and greet’ Wednesday

Baldwin Police Chief Harry Smith will hold a “meet and greet” Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Baldwin Community Center.
“It is my goal to see all the residents of the community of Baldwin happy, safe, and working in collaboration with the Baldwin Police Department,” Smith said. “It is the vision of myself and the BPD that we become one team, one community-working together for the betterment of our community.”
Smith said, “It will take effort from all of us to make that a reality. In order to get started moving to make that possible, I am inviting the residents to a Meet and Greet Forum with me and my department. Our focus is establishing community oriented policing. The purpose of this event is to give the residents the opportunity to speak with me and police officers of the department to discuss any concerns, complaints, or comments you have in regards to the safety of the citizens.
Smith said he would like to hear any suggestions that will help to build a successful partnership between the police department and the community.
“It is the mission of the whole BPD to serve the community with dignity, integrity and professionalism,” the chief said. “We plan to live up to our oath and duty to protect and serve. We want to have a community in which all of the residents will be proud to call home. So come out and meet with me, and let me hear your concerns. I hope to address them as best as I can. Mayor Donna Lanceslin will also be present at this event. I am sure that she will welcome the opportunity to speak with the residents as well.”
