Battling Homlessness

Agencies such as St. Mary Community Action Agency link the hopeless with the hopeful. Mayor Raymond Harris, above left, signed a proclamation declaring Tuesday “Homelessness Awareness Day.” Harris is seated with St. Mary Parish Office of Emergency Preparedness Director Duval Arthur. CAA officials say homelessness is rising at an alarming rate in St. Mary Parish, along with a lack of quality housing. During the forum a former housing client shared her experiences and told how the St. Mary CAA housing department helped her combat homelessness.
