Bayou Vista woman faces drug, simple battery charges

A Bayou Vista woman was arrested on a litany of charges for two agencies after she was stopped by officers in Amelia.
Malissa Gill, 25, of the 100 block of Sun Road in Bayou Vista, was charged at 10:07 a.m. Monday with possession of a Schedule IV narcotic, entering contraband into a penal institution, a warrant for second-degree battery and a warrant for failure to appear on charges of traffic light violation.
Sheriff Mark Hebert said a deputy patrolling the Amelia area located Gill. The deputy later found Gill to be in possession of several Klonopin pills for which she did not have a prescription.
The second-degree battery warrant stems from a sheriff’s office investigation Feb. 8 in which Gill broke a glass bottle over a victim’s head, Hebert said.
At the parish jail, Gill was found to be in possession of crystal meth and a glass pipe, according to the sheriff. She was additionally charged.
Following those charges, Berwick Police Chief James Richard said his agency arrested Gill at 3:40 p.m. Monday on a warrant charging her with felony theft. The warrant stems from an investigation in which Gill is accused of stealing a cell phone and money from the security desk at Hollywood Truck Plaza, Richard said.
In other action, Richard reported the following arrest:
—Dwayne Dupuy, 34, of Second Street in Morgan City, at 6:48 p.m. Tuesday on the charge of hit and run. Dupuy is accused of leaving the scene of a crash on Burchfield Lane during which no injuries were reported. Morgan City police located Dupuy and detained him for Berwick police. Dupuy posted $1,000 bail.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle said his department arrested Blair A. Nash, 41, of the 1200 block of Live Oak in Patterson at 4:32 p.m. Tuesday for second offense possession of a Schedule II narcotic (heroin).
The arrest was a result of Operation 911, in which law enforcement uses technology to track drug dealers in the area. A search warrant was executed on First Street in Patterson, LaSalle said.
Nash remained jailed this morning with no bail set.
According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, from Friday through Tuesday, the department responded to 156 complaints and reported the following eastern end arrests:
—Melvin Sylvester, 54, of the 1400 block of James Street in Siracusaville, at 1:45 p.m. Friday for a warrant for possession of stolen things and theft. The warrant stems from an investigation conducted in January regarding a burglary that took place in the Siracusaville area. A detective assigned to the case located stolen merchandise at a local business. The investigator found that Sylvester was responsible for pawning the items. Sylvester, an inmate at the parish jail, was arrested for the warrant and remains incarcerated. No bail is set.
—Brett Leboeuf, 19, of the 1700 block of Dale Street in Morgan City, at 3:43 a.m. Saturday on charges of flight from an officer, reckless operation of a vehicle and maximum speed limit (98 mph in a 65 mph zone). A deputy assigned to patrol the Calumet area conducted radar operations on U.S. 90.
The deputy found that a vehicle, driven by Leboeuf, was traveling west on the highway at speeds in excess of 90 mph. Deputies and the Patterson Police department attempted to stop Leboeuf, however, he increased his speed and ignored all emergency lights and sirens. The driver ultimately came to a stop at a nearby shopping center and surrendered. Leboeuf was released after posting $2,500 bail.
—Timothy Van Troung, 20, of the 100 block of Village Lane in Amelia, at 6:03 p.m. Saturday for hit and run and no driver’s license. The deputy learned that the responsible party was at an address on Village Lane where the driver of a damaged white Mitsubishi SUV was located. Troung admitted that he left the scene of an accident and that he did not have a driver’s license. He was released on a summons to appear in court May 12.
—Steven Crawford, 43, of the 800 block of Southeast Boulevard in Bayou Vista, at 9:21 p.m. Saturday for disturbing the peace. A deputy assigned to patrol the Bayou Vista area responded to a call of loud music coming from a residence on Southeast Boulevard. The deputy arrested Crawford, who previously had been warned about the music multiple times. He later was released on a summons to appear in court May 12.
—Yamalys Marsh, 24, of the 400 block of Verdun Lane in Centerville, at 10:47 a.m. Monday for disturbing the peace. A deputy patrolling the Centerville area conducted an investigation regarding a missing dog. During the course of his duties, he made contact with Marsh who began to yell profanities and to make offensive gestures at a neighbor. Marsh was instructed to stop but ignored instruction and continued yelling profanities at the neighbor. Marsh was arrested and released on a summons to appear in court May 12.
—Fonzie Wade, 39, of the 100 block of Sun Road in Bayou Vista, at 10:08 a.m. Monday for possession of a Schedule IV narcotic. A deputy assisting with a Berwick Police Department theft investigation made contact with Wade at his residence. Wade had been checked by Acadian Ambulance Services as he displayed odd behavior. During the course of the investigation, the deputy found Wade to be in possession of Klonopin pills without a prescription. Wade later admitted that he took the pills for anxiety and that was the reason for his “relaxed mood” and why he appeared to be intoxicated. He remains jailed on a $2,500 bail.
—Eric Lusco, 23, of the 200 block of Hidden Acres in Houma, at 10:03 p.m. Monday for criminal trespass. A deputy working in the Amelia area responded to a call of a trespasser at a local business. The caller stated that a vehicle was stuck in mud on the property. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Lusco, who was intoxicated. Lusco said he was trying to turn around and continue his travels to Houma. He caused several ruts on the property and eventually got his vehicle stuck. Lusco was released on a summons to appear in court May 12.
—Wayne Hill, 55, of the 100 block of Odile Lane in Amelia, at 10:32 p.m. Monday for unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling. A deputy patrolling the Amelia area responded to a 911 hang up call at a residence. The resident told the deputy that Hill entered his trailer without his permission, which Hill later admitted. Hill was jailed with no bail set.
Morgan City Assistant Chief Mark Griffin Jr., said there were no parade-related arrests during the extended holiday weekend. However, Griffin said, there were two unrelated arrests reported:
—Mark J. Terrebonne, 58, of Walnut Drive in Morgan City, at 3:43 p.m. Monday for theft of goods. Terrebonne was arrested at a La. 182 supermarket where he was accused of attempting to commit the theft of medicine valued at $11.67. He was booked and jailed.
—Roslyn J. Daigle, 49, of Second Street in Morgan City, at 4:28 p.m. Tuesday for misuse of 911 services. Officers were dispatched to a Second Street address regarding a 911 emergency call where they encountered Daigle, who was found in an intoxicated condition. It was learned that Daigle had used the 911 emergency system for a non-emergency complaint and was subsequently charged. She was booked and jailed.
