Berwick subdivision creation moving forward

Preliminary approval is to be considered soon for the newest subdivision in Berwick.
Lafayette developer Fernand Privat, owner of Privat General Contractors, purchased 18 acres of land to construct 57 residential lots adjacent to Renwick Subdivision in 2014.
Privat’s subdivision, adjacent to the western edge of Renwick, will be accessible from Cloverdale and Victoria drives in Renwick and will be developed with the same concept as Renwick. The contractor said he wouldn’t change a formula that is working in the community.
Renwick’s fifth phase was 33 lots which went on sale in June 2013 and all have been sold.
During Tuesday’s meeting of the Berwick Town Council, Reid Miller of Miller Engineers said the survey is complete and they are ready to start the design phase. The preliminary plat has been presented to the town, and will be considered at the next Planning and Zoning meeting.
Meanwhile, Gary Beadle, planning and zoning director, said he received an application Tuesday for development of 11 lots on the Willowcrest side of Fairview. David Webster of Cajun Sunrise submitted the application. Beadle said he had not had time to review it.
In other action:
—Councilman Troy Lombardo said the recreation committee is creating a 20 foot by 40 foot gazebo on the waterfront north of the railroad tracks. The gazebo will contain several swings for the public to use.
—The Council expanded the agenda to reappoint Joseph Cain to the Morgan City Harbor and Terminal District board.
