Blue Bell ice cream returns to Tri-City area

Blue Bell Creameries ice cream returned in Morgan City on Monday after an eight-month absence. The company voluntary removed all products from stores in April after reports of a listeria outbreak. A Blue Bell employee was unloading the ice cream at Walgreens in Morgan City. The return to Morgan City was part of the company's re-entry plan for Louisiana and the Jackson, Miss., area. A company news release said more than 100 employees have been called back from paid furloughs in conjunction with this portion of the re-entry plan.
