CAA Easter egg hunt
Easter egg hunts were held Wednesday at Caffery Park in Franklin. The first egg hunt involved parents who quickly filled empty bags as they scrambled about looking for the gold and silver eggs. A large number of fathers and father figures joined in the egg hunting fun and enjoyed the event as much as their children in the next hunt. Winners in both were awarded with door prizes and Easter baskets filled with chocolate goodies and sweet treats. Almetra J. Franklin, St. Mary Community Action Agency chief executive officer, said enrichment activities like the Easter egg hunts are important to promote school readiness for Head Start children and their parents. “These excursions are an important tool needed to teach our children necessary social, gross motor and cognitive skills that they will need when they move on to kindergarten,” Franklin said. “Children learn to interact with other children, healthy movement skills and constructive thinking skills, all of which is important to the whole Head Start experience and beyond.”
