Charenton woman killed in two-vehicle crash

JEANERETTE (AP) — State police are investigating a traffic accident in St. Mary Parish that left one woman dead.
Troopers say the accident happened on Louisiana Highway 87 about 5 p.m. Sunday near Jeanerette.
Master Trooper Brooks David says a car driven by 33-year-old Teala Bernard of Chareton crossed the centerline and hit a pickup driven by 26-year-old Roni Landry of Franklin.
David said Bernard, who was wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene. He says a passenger in Bernard’s car, Aaren Brown, of Jeanerette, was air lifted to a hospital and is listed in critical condition. He says Landry was wearing her seat belt and suffered moderate injuries. Two young children in Landry’s pickup suffered minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
