Firefighters battle blaze on vessel

Morgan City Fire Department firefighters responded to a fire on vessel Carolyn in Siracusaville around 8 a.m. today.
The boat was docked on the Intracoastal Waterway. It was behind the old ABC Bait Co.
Work was being performed on the second deck and some used materials, yet to be identified, caught on fire, said Morgan City Fire Chief Alvin Cockerham.
The only injury was to one of the firefighters. He was wearing gloves but the steel was so hot it burned through the glove, Cockerham said..
The injury is minor but will be checked out, Cockerham said.
