Flood watch in effect for Atchafalaya River

The National Weather Service in Lake Charles has issued a flood
watch for the:

Atchafalaya River Near Melville AFFECTING St. Landry Parish
Atchafalaya River At Krotz Springs AFFECTING St. Landry and St.
Martin Parishes
Atchafalaya River Above Butte La Rose AFFECTING Iberia...St.
Martin and St. Mary Parishes
Atchafalaya River At Myette Point AFFECTING St. Mary Parish
Atchafalaya River at Morgan City AFFECTING St. Mary Parish

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flood Watch means conditions are favorable for flooding of low
lying areas and along rivers and streams. If you are in the watch
area remain alert to possible flooding or if a warning is issued.

Do not drive into flooded areas or attempt to cross roadways covered
by high water.You may check the following website for the latest
river and weather information, www.srh.noaa.gov/lch.

The National Weather Service in Lake Charles has issued a
* Flood Watch for
The Atchafalaya River At Myette Point
* from Friday afternoon until further notice.
* At 2:30 PM Monday the stage was 8.9 feet.
* Minor flooding is possible.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Forecast...Flood stage may be reached by Friday January 15th.
* Impact...At stages near 15.0 feet...Although on the floodway side
of the protection levee, flooding of the batture will impede small
craft launching. Navigation precautions are recommended.
