Mardi Gras parades start Friday

Mardi Gras parades are set to roll through the Tri-City area starting Friday, Feb. 13.
Changes to the Morgan City parade routes also have been announced. The parades for the krewes of Adonis, Galatea and Hephaestus will turn from Ninth Street onto Brashear Avenue instead of onto Clothilde Street due to construction work.
Krewe of Adonis
The men’s Krewe of Adonis hosts the first parade of the local season with the area’s only nighttime procession at 7 p.m. Friday.
The parade will begin at Brashear and Federal avenues in Morgan City, proceed down Federal Avenue to Onstead Street, Sixth Street, Marguerite Street, Ninth Street, Brashear Avenue and Victor II Boulevard where it will end at the Myrtle Street intersection.
Krewe of Dionysus
The Krewe of Dionysus will present its alternating parade at 2 p.m. Saturday, in Bayou Vista.
Participants will line up on the corner of Jupiter and Delmar streets, and the procession will turn right on Delmar to Venus, Saturn, Southeast Boulevard, Canal Street, Teche Road, Fairmont, back to Southeast and turn right onto Belleview and proceed to its starting point on Jupiter Street where it will disband.
Members of the Krewe of Hannibal will parade with Dionysus.
Anyone wishing to place a unit in the Dionysus parade should contact Roddy Richard, 985-498-0118 or Dale Tompkins, 985-518-3274. All units must be registered.
Dionysus will hold an After Parade Dance. Tickets, $10, are available from any board member. No tickets will be sold at the door.
Krewe of Galatea
The women’s Krewe of Galatea will host its annual parade at 2 p.m. Sunday, in Morgan City.
The procession will organize on Second Street in Morgan City under the U.S. 90 Grizzaffi Bridge and proceed north to Onstead Street, Sixth Street, Marguerite Street (where a toast will take place at the reviewing stand), Ninth Street, Brashear Avenue and Victor II Boulevard, ending at the Morgan City Municipal Auditorium.
Members of the children’s Krewe of Nike will parade with Galatea.
Krewe of Amani
The Krewe of Amani will hold its Lundi Gras parade at 2 p.m. Monday, in Patterson.
The procession will line up at Patterson High School and proceed down La. 182 (Main Street) and end at the Place Norman Shopping Center.
Members of the Krewe of Hannibal will parade with Amani.
Krewe of Hephaestus
The Krewe of Hephaestus, the oldest local krewe, will present its parade Fat Tuesday, at 2 p.m. in Morgan City.
Floats and bands will organize at the corner of Sixth and Sycamore streets in Morgan City, proceed down Sixth Street to Marguerite Street, Ninth Street, Brashear Avenue, and Victor II Boulevard, ending at the auditorium.
Siracusa/Greenwood
The Siracusa/Greenwood Mardi Gras Parade will also be held Fat Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Siracusa Subdivision near Morgan City.
Participants will line up on Siracusa Road at 1 p.m. and proceed to James Street and Grace Street before ending at the Siracusaville Recreation Center.
