Mayor Harris clarifies Progressive absence
Progressive Waste Solutions was a scheduled guest on Tuesday’s agenda for the Franklin City Council meeting.
No representative was present, but Mayor Raymond Harris said that does not mean the company deliberately avoided appearing.
Harris said that though the item was placed on the agenda by a councilman, efforts to reach the company’s management were not successful.
Councilman Chuck Autin, who asked for the company to appear before the council, said he attempted to contact Progressive once unsuccessfully.
Harris also said the city tried to contact Progressive via a known email address that had been used successfully in the past but did not receive a reply on this occasion.
The mayor said if no contact was made between the city and the company, no obligation exists for them to have appeared at Tuesday’s meeting.
Progressive was asked to appear at the meeting in July after complaints over its waste collection service was received by council members.
