Mayor Harris invites officials to city’s Christmas Under the Lampposts event

Mayor Raymond Harris Jr. is inviting newly elected officials and the mayors of the surrounding municipalities to participate in Franklin’s Christmas under the Lampposts.
“I am inviting all newly elected officials and the mayors to participate in the Christmas event,” Harris said. “This allows residents to see a different side of those they have selected to lead them and provides officials with a way of saying ‘thank you’ for the support they received during the election. Additionally, it demonstrates how we support each other as officials. The deadline has been extended to noon Friday, Dec. 4, so you have time to register.”
Christmas under the Lampposts is Saturday, Dec. 5. Line-up for the parade begins at 5 p.m. on Jackson Street. The parade begins at 6 p.m., ending at the courthouse square for the lamp lighting ceremony.
Every year a person, a couple or a group is selected as the Lamplighter to turn on the tree at the courthouse square, beginning the Christmas season in Franklin.
The Lamplighter for this year will be revealed after the Christmas parade during the ceremony at the courthouse.
Here’s a hint: The Lamplighter helps people.
