Mayors, parish officials unite on the Teche

Mayors and parish government officials from Port Barre to Berwick joined together last week by tying flags in a non-traditional ribbon cutting ceremony presented by TECHE Project and Lower Atchafalaya Paddle Trail organizer Connie Castille of Breaux Bridge. From left below are Berwick Mayor Louis Ratcliff, Baldwin Mayor Donna Lewis Lanceslin, Patterson Mayor Rodney Grogan and Franklin Mayor Raymond Harris Jr. Bayou Teche recently earned federal National Paddle Trail status and the more prestigious National Water Trail, of which there are only 18 in the nation.
