Mexican national found in St. Mary sentenced in court

United States Attorney Stephanie A. Finley announced Monday that a Mexican national was sentenced to 13 months in prison for reentering the United States multiple times illegally.
Hugo Campuzano Cuellar, 37, of Villa de las Flores, Coacalco, Mexico, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Richard T. Haik to one count of illegal reentry of a deported alien.
According to the Aug. 26 guilty plea, immigration officers encountered Cuellar in the St. Mary Parish jail on April 8. He admitted that he was a citizen of Mexico. He was previously removed from the United States on May 23, 2002, May 16, 2005 and May 7, 2009.
Homeland Security Investigations and the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office conducted the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Dominic A. Rossetti prosecuted the case.
