National Weather Service issues winter weather advisory

Roger Erickson, warning coordination meteorologist, with the National Weather Service at Lake Charles, issued the following advisory at 9:39 a.m. today.
The National Weather Service in Lake Charles is expecting another round of rain to begin this afternoon, and continue through the evening. Rain will taper off after midnight in southeast Texas, and by daybreak in southwest and central Louisiana. Rain will end in south central Louisiana later Wednesday morning.
When temperatures fall at or below freezing tonight, the rain could become freezing rain. The area where freezing rain is expected is now under a winter weather advisory late tonight into Wednesday morning. This includes Hardin, Jasper, Newton, and Tyler counties, as well as Allen, Avoyelles, Beauregard, Evangeline, Rapides, St. Landry, and Vernon parishes.
Total ice accumulation of 0.05 to 0.10 inch could be seen in northern Jasper, northern Newton, and Tyler counties, as well as Avoyelles, Rapides, and Vernon parishes. Ice accumulations of less than 0.05 inch could be seen in northern Hardin, southern Jasper, and southern Newton counties, and in Allen, Beauregard, Evangeline, and northern St. Landry parishes. No ice is expected along the I-10 corridor from Beaumont to Lake Charles and Lafayette.
