New event his May: the ALR Freedom Fest

ALR Freedom Fest, honoring fallen veterans, kicks off with the 13th annual Freedom Ride, a scenic motorcycle trip through St. Mary Parish to lay wreaths at Blue Star Memorial sites.
American Legion Riders Post 96, Morgan City, will host the free event at the Judges’ Stand on Lake End Parkway, located along La. 70 on Lake Palourde.
The Freedom Ride kicks off at 8 a.m., along with a car show hosted by the Bayou Mustang Club.
Activities throughout the day include vendor and food booths, all day; children’s activities, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.; and a bike show by Street Survivors RC, noon-5 p.m.
Children’s activities include a large inflatable bounce house and face painting.
Fishing is allowed along the lakeside (with a fishing license).
Food vendors will provide barbecue pulled pork sandwiches, barbecue chicken, sausage jambalaya, hamburgers, hot dogs, red beans and rice, sausage po-boys, funnel cake, beer, and soft drinks.
Live music throughout the day includes:
––Cross Roads Band, 10:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m.
––Chubby Carrier, 12:30 p.m.-1:45 p.m.
––Haggard Stallion, 2 p.m.-3:30 p.m.
––Hal Bruni and the Branded with special guest Josh Newcom, 3:45 p.m.-5:15 p.m.
–––Old Soul, 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m.
––Michael Bacon, 7:15 p.m.-8:45 p.m.
Speakers between bands will give speeches at 10:30 a.m., 12:15 p.m. and 1:45 p.m.
