Region eludes winter storm; spring coming soon?

Things are looking up, weather-wise.
South Louisiana missed the frozen precipitation that has threatened the northern portions of the state.
And, if winter-weary Tri-City residents can make it through another chilly, rainy week, we may even get a taste of spring.
“The rest of this week looks pretty cold with a good warmup heading into the weekend,” said meteorologist Stephen Carboni of the National Weather Service in Lake Charles.
The forecast is for rain beginning tonight and lasting into Wednesday.
The high today is expected to hit 48 degrees, the low 43 degrees.
“That’s certainly cold enough, but it’s not cold enough for frozen precipitation,” Carboni said.
Highs the rest of the week will be in the upper 40s to mid-50s.
Then, about Sunday, the sun breaks through with a high in the 70s and a low in the 60s.
The National Weather Service called off a freezing rain advisory for east Texas and central Louisiana at 10 a.m. today. But another round of precipitation is expected to start after midnight tonight, and continue through Wednesday. Temperatures are forecast to remain above freezing, so no snow, sleet, or freezing rain is expected in our forecast area.
Along the Interstate 20 corridor, forecasters say snow accumulations of 1 to 2 inches are possible before the precipitation moves east out of the area.
Louisiana State Police Sgt. Barry Spinny in Bossier City says ice remains on the bridges and overpasses.
He says the ice should melt today as the temperature moves above freezing, but it could reform tonight into Wednesday morning as the snow moves over the area.
