Rhythms on the River is still on; final decision at 2 p.m.

So far, tonight’s Rhythms on the River concert is dodging the raindrops.
The Rhythms show scheduled from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. was still on, said Beth Portero of Morgan City Main Street. Organizers plan to make the final decision about 2 p.m.
Last week, rain forced the cancellation of the season-opening performance by Don Rich.
Tonight’s scheduled act is Jamie Bergeron and the Kickin’ Cajuns.

Rhythms on the River will be on Front Street between Everett and Freret streets.
One casualty of the weekend weather forecast was the Wooden Boat Show slated for Franklin.
Organizers postponed the Franklin event out of concern for participants who planned to travel to the show on local waterways.
But the Black Bear Festival in Franklin will go on as scheduled today through Sunday.
According to the event’s website, “The mission of the bear festival is to educate the citizens of St. Mary Parish and the surrounding area about the Louisiana black bear, a species listed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service as ‘threatened’ under the guidelines of the Endangered Species Act. The festival features all the activities associated with a typical Louisiana festival — music, food, and good company — but also includes field trips, educational exhibits and children’s activities relating to bears and the many other natural resources found in south Louisiana.”
One of the highlights will be a fireworks display at 8 p.m. Saturday on Bayou Teche behind the Blevin’s building.
