School board moves to sell buses
The St. Mary Parish School Board approved equipment surplus and funding Thursday at the monthly school board meeting.
The transportation department was granted permission to declare buses 74, 78, and 79 as surplus and sell to the highest bidder.
There are several things wrong with all buses that are beyond repair, said St. Mary Parish Schools Maintenance Supervisor Brad Wiese. The buses have been sitting inoperable in Franklin.
The board also approved the transportation department’s declaration of Berwick Junior Band Trailer as surplus.
It will be sold to the highest bidder.
Funding for installation of back flow prevention equipment was approved for three locations.
M.E. Norman Elementary will receive $5,000, Morgan City stadium receives $2,500 and Bayou Vista Elementary receives $2,600.
In other news, Superintendent Leonard Armato reported standardized testing will return to a one-week time frame.
