Two arrested on drug charges in Verdunville

Two men were charged Wednesday after St. Mary Parish narcotics detectives executed a search warrant at a Verdunville residence, where they discovered Percocet pills, bags of meth and cash believed to be from drug sales, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
Hebert reported responding to 31 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Jude Franklin, 36, of the 500 block of Tiger Road in Franklin, was arrested at 6:11 p.m. Wednesday for the offenses of possession of Schedule II methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of Schedule IV Klonopin, possession of Schedule II Percocet with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, transactions involving drug proceed and possession of controlled dangerous substances in the presence of a juvenile.
—Jacob Hidalgo, 32, of the 300 block of Malcolm Street in Baldwin, was arrested at 6:11 p.m. Wednesday for possession of Schedule II Percocet and possession of controlled dangerous substances in the presence of a juvenile.
Narcotics division detectives executed a warrant in the 500 block of Tiger Lane in Verdunville, Hebert said. Detectives located a bottle containing 95 Percocet pills, Klonopin pills, several bags of methamphetamine, and $246 cash, the sheriff said. Hidalgo was also found to be in possession of several Percocet pills, Hebert said.
The cash located during the search is believed to be derived from illicit drug sales, Hebert said. A 12-year-old and 16-year-old were present at the residence, Hebert said.
Franklin and Hidalgo were jailed with no bail set.
—Cordell Johnson Sr., 37, of the 900 block of La. 318 in Jeanerette, was arrested at 11:42 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant for disturbing the peace fighting. Johnson turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City. Johnson was released on $500 bail.
Morgan City Assistant Police Chief Mark Griffin Jr. reported the following arrests:
—Jamie Gray, 44, of Egle Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:08 a.m. today on the charge of expired license plate, driving under suspension and no insurance.
A patrolling officer observed a vehicle with an expired license plate traveling in the area of La. 182 and stopped to speak with the driver. The driver, Gray, could not produce a driver’s license and confirmed that his license was under suspension. The vehicle was found to be operating without proper insurance applied. Gray was jailed.
—Henry A. Thomas, 24, of St. Amant, was arrested at 2:59 a.m. today on the charges of speeding, failure to signal a turn and driving under suspension.
A patrolling officer observed a speeding vehicle in the area of La. 182 and Myrtle Street and attempted to stop the vehicle to investigate. The vehicle was eventually stopped in the Wyandotte area on Railroad Avenue and the driver identified as Thomas. Thomas was found to be operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. He was jailed.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
