Water safety program at Lake End Park

A water safety program is set for Saturday at the Lake End Park Pavilion in Morgan City from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Fifth Annual Water Safety’s Aqua Safety First Community Program will feature music, games, food and educational opportunities. There will be presentations of information and water preparedness for community programs, career information and more.
Entertainment includes Blue Eyed Soul Revue, the late Percy Sledge’s band, at 1 p.m. Tony O and Wheelhouse at noon, and South 70 at 10 a.m.
Presenting water safety information will be the United States Coast Guard, Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, the Red Cross of New Orleans, St. Mary Parish 911, Morgan City Fire and Rescue and other agencies.
There will be classes on boating safety regulations designed to prevent injury or death, use of life jackets, flares, visual signals and fire-fighting equipment. Boat registration, speed, no-wake zones, depth awareness and boating responsibility will also be discussed.
Door prizes will be given. Ice chests are allowed during the event. Food includes jambalaya or red beans for $5 or Domino’s pizza for $1 a slice.
