Early voting ends Saturday

Early voting for the March 5 presidential preference primary will end Saturday. Voting hours are 8:30 a.m. until 6 p.m.
People can vote early at the St. Mary Parish Registrar of Voters Office on the third floor of the Parish Courthouse in Franklin and also at the registrar’s branch office at 301 Third St. in Morgan City. You may vote at either location regardless of your address.
Early voting began Feb. 20. As of Thursday, 700 voters had cast ballots in St. Mary Parish. Five hundred twenty-eight white voters, and 164 black voters voted. Additionally, 305 male and 395 female voters cast ballots, while 313 Democrats and 387 Republicans voted.
The ballot includes Presidential primaries for the Democratic and Republican parties.
Only registered Democrats and Republicans are eligible to vote, and you must vote your party.
Also on the ballot is election of a member of the Republican State Central Committee, 21st Senate District, Division A. Only registered Republicans on the west end of the parish can vote on that seat.
