Shannon school closure discussion on city council agenda

The Morgan City Council will hear Tuesday from a guest regarding the possible closure of M.D. Shannon Elementary School, according to the council agenda.
The City Council will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the City Court Building. Guests on the agenda include Laura Randall for the M.D. Shannon Elementary School closure, Judith Allain for Techeland Arts Council Story Gathering Workshop and Tammy Rogers for Chez Hope Trivia Night.
The St. Mary Parish School Board will hold a special meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Central Office Complex in Centerville. Consideration to close M.D. Shannon Elementary and redistribute students from that school to M.E. Norman and Wyandotte elementary schools is on the school board agenda.
Also on the agenda will be resolutions for a change order and substantial completion for Phase II of the Lake End Parkway cabins project along with a bid tabulation for Lake End Parkway asphalt roadway improvements.
Tuesday’s city council agenda includes the first reading of an ordinance to amend the qualifications and responsibilities for the position of city prosecutor.
Additionally, the council will discuss the city’s police pension and relief fund and the finance committee’s recommendations.
