CCHS caps perfect district season

Central Catholic capped a perfect District 7-1A softball season with a 16-1 win against Lafayette Christian Friday.
The Lady Eagles (23-3) finished their district season with a 12-0 mark.
In Friday’s win, the Lady Eagles broke open a 2-1 game in the bottom of the second with a 10-run outburst for a commanding 12-1 lead.
The Lady Eagles added a run in the third and three more in the fourth for the run-rule victory.
Central Catholic’s Gee Garrett finished 2-for-3 with a double, a stolen base and a run, while Kimberly Russo was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, a stolen base and two runs. Other top contributors included Brandi Landry, 1-for-1, an RBI; Megan Landry, 1-for-2, an RBI; and Brittany Longman, 1-for-4, an RBI and two runs.
Megan Landry earned the win. In four innings, she surrendered an earned run on a hit and fanned 11.
Central Catholic will return to action today when it hosts Berwick in a 5 p.m. contest.
Patterson defeats Runnels
The Patterson Lumberjills run-ruled Runnels 17-2 on the road Friday in four innings.
Hailey Sehon led the Lumberjills with a 2-for-3 performance with two home runs and four RBIs, while Carli McIntyre, Rachel Easley, Gaylen Grogan and Lucy Bennett each had three hits.
Taylor Hall earned the win for the Lumberjills.
Patterson (13-7) will return to action today when it plays at White Castle in a doubleheader, beginning at 4 p.m.
Morgan City
drops doubleheader
The Morgan City Lady Tigers dropped a doubleheader to St. Joseph’s Academy Friday by scores of 10-2 and 3-2.
In the first game, St. Joseph’s held a 9-0 lead after four innings of play.
Morgan City scored its two runs in the top of the sixth, while St. Joseph scored another run in the bottom of the sixth.
Morgan City was outhit 11-5.
Hannah Falgout finished 1-for-3 with two RBIs for Morgan City, while Brandi Ingram was 1-for-3 with a double; and Aliya Green, 1-for-4 with a double and a run.
Tyler Hebert suffered the loss for Morgan City. In six innings, she surrendered 10 runs — nine earned — on 11 hits with two walks, three hit batters and four strikeouts.
In game two, both teams plated a run in the first and third innings for a 2-2 tie after three innings.
St. Joseph’s plated the game-winning run in the bottom of the fifth.
Morgan City outhit St. Joseph’s 8-7.
Hebert finished 3-for-4 with a double, while Aliya Green was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Brandi Ingram was 1-for-4 with a double.
Hebert suffered the loss for Morgan City. In six innings, she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits with one walk, one hit batter and fanned six.
Morgan City (14-13) will return to action today when it hosts Covenant Christian in a 4 p.m. contest.
