Summer program slated in Centerville, Verdunville area

Mid Area Concerned Citizens Organization of Verdunville and St. Mary Community Action Agency will be offering a six-week summer enrichment program for the Verdunville and Centerville area.
It will be for community youth aged 6-14 and will focus on the following subjects: Literacy Development, Character Building, Music Appreciation, Physical Exercise and promoting family learning environments. The program will be located at St. Mary Parish Alternative School, 131 Clausen Road in Verdunville.
The program will be held from June 9 to July 18 from 8 a.m. to noon daily.
The program will feature structured classroom settings based with enrichment and physical development. Participants will receive a nutritional breakfast and lunch. No transportation will be provided. The program has a limited number of slots for participants. They will be filled on a first come first serve basis. Applications may be picked up and returned no later than Friday, June 6 at the Little Zion Community Outreach Center located at 7814 La. 182, Verdunville; St. Mary CAA located at 1407 Barrow St., Franklin; or from any MACCO member.
Almetra J. Franklin, St. Mary CAA chief executive officer and MACCO board member said that this is an equal opportunity program open to all eligible children from the Verdunville and Centerville communities only.
