Parish Council meets Wednesday
Members of the St. Mary Parish Council will meet in regular session Wednesday at 6 p.m. in Franklin.
Items on the agenda include:
—Consideration of approval of the Planning and Zoning Commission’s recommendation to permit development of a 168-unit gated community in a high density residential zone on La. 3215 in Garden City.
—Introduction of an ordinance on a zoning map amendment at 932 Irish Bend Road, Franklin, from single family residential to neighborhood commercial for operation of a convenience store.
—Adoption of ordinances on installation of a four-way stop sign at Southeast Boulevard and Delmar Avenue and a three-way stop sign at Arlington and Fairview streets, both in Bayou Vista; realignment of parish voting precincts; and declaration of certain property as surplus and authorizing the sale of same. A public hearing on the proposed ordinances will be called at 5:45 p.m.
—Resolutions on a cooperative endeavor agreement with the Department of Transportation and Development on the donation of reclaimed asphalt pavement; an amendment to the intergovernmental agreement with Sheriff Mark A. Hebert, on the suspension of per diem payments; an amendment to the health services agreement with Correcthealth Saint Mary LLC relative to medical care of parish prisoners; a change order and notice of substantial completion on the Plantation Inn Pump Station replacement project; and an intergovernmental agreement with St. Mary Levee District on the reimbursement of levee maintenance costs.
—A request from the City of Morgan City for $10,000 to construct a 360-degree typhoon slide at Lawrence Park and purchase cement for a skate park.
—A request by Councilman Charles Middleton for $40,000 from the gaming fund to construct a basketball court at St. Joseph Park.
The meeting begins at 6 p.m. on the fifth floor of the courthouse, 500 Main St., Franklin.
