2 men killed in crash

Two men, who Louisiana State Police troopers say were unrestrained, died as the result of crash that occurred about 7:40 a.m. Wednesday on La. 182 near Oak Forest Drive in Terrebonne Parish.
A Troop C new release said the single vehicle wreck occurred when a 2005 Toyota Camry, occupied by Jerome Evans, 23, and Dontrell Boykin, 31, both of Gray, were traveling through moderate fog westbound on La. 182 east of South Bayou Black Drive.
The driver, for reasons under investigation, failed to negotiate a left curve in the roadway and traveled off of the right portion of the highway, police said. As the Camry continued off road, it struck a tree, overturned, and entered into Bayou Black partially submerging the vehicle, police said. Both Evans and Boykin suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash and were pronounced dead on the scene by a Terrebonne Parish Coroner’s Office representative, police said.
Neither Evans nor Boykin were restrained and it is unknown at this time who was the driver, police said.
Impairment is also unknown at this time; however, blood samples were collected from both for toxicological examination, police said. Those results are pending as this crash remains under investigation.
