HAROLD ‘KaTa’ J. CLEMENTS
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 11, 2014, at an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Baldwin, for Mr. Harold “KaTa” J. Clements, 85, a native and longtime resident of Charenton, who passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at 7:40 a.m., at his residence. He will be laid to rest in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery Mausoleum in Charenton. Fr. Gregory Cormier will be the celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the services.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday at the church, from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass, with the rosary being prayed at 10:30 a.m.
Mr. Harold proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1948 until his honorable discharge in 1952; he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a long time sugarcane farmer, having worked with his brothers at Clements Brothers Farms, then venturing into his own farming, Harold Clements Farm, having won many awards in the industry over the years. Mr. Harold served as a Eucharistic Minister at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Baldwin and St. Joan of Arc in Glencoe.
Survivors include three sons, Timothy “Tim” Clements; Barry Clements Sr. and his wife, Christine; and Steve Clements and his wife, Kate; one daughter, Paula Clements Krieg and her husband, Carl; three brothers, Lenis Clements, Dale Clements and his wife, Lucille; Errol Clements and his wife, Betsy; one sister, Ida C. Simoneaux; one half sister, Linda Verret; six grandchildren; three step grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; and one great, great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Amy Bodin Clements; his parents, Rene and Agnes Comeaux Clements; four brothers, Lawrence, Morris, Robert, Dallas Clements; four sisters, Lillian C. Hebert, Louise C. Morales, Levi C. LeBlanc and Elizabeth Clements; an infant baby brother; and a daughter-in-law, Donis Mire Clements.
Serving as pallbearers will be Barry Clements Sr., Marine CWO3 Barry Clements Jr., Marine Sgt. Ryan Thomas, Steve Clements, Carl Krieg and Keith Clements. Honorary pallbearers are Timothy “Tim” Clements and Thomas Greaux.
