Tigers defeat Lutcher, 4-1

The Morgan City High Tigers defeated Lutcher High School, while the Lady Tigers played Houma Christian to a draw.
In the boys’ game, Morgan City picked up a 4-1 win.
“This is one of the best games the boys have played,” Morgan City Coach Trevor Patterson said.
Morgan City scored its first goal in the eighth minute on a shot by Hector Calderon, while Irving Delgado scored just prior to halftime for a 2-0 Morgan City lead.
In the second half, Morgan City scored two goals, with Delgado netting one in the sixth minute and another by Miguel Perez in the seventh minute.
Lutcher scored its goal just prior to the end of the game.
In the girls’ game, Morgan City and Houma Christian played to a 1-1 tie in a game that Patterson said his team should have won.
Each team scored a goal in the second half, with Morgan City netting its score first via a Sarah Patterson goal off an assist by Paige Comeaux.
The Morgan City boys’ and girls’ soccer teams also celebrated Senior Night Monday.
The Lady Tigers honored three players who have been members of the team for four years —Patterson, Comeaux and Lee Anne Price.
The Tigers had two players honored who have played for three years apiece — Delgado and Calderon.
Both the Tigers (7-6-3 overall, 1-3 in district) and Lady Tigers (4-6-2, 1-2-1) will return to action Wednesday when they host South Terrebonne to begin the second round of District 7-II play. Girls’ action will begin at 5 p.m., while the boys’ game will begin at 7 p.m.
