Tigers win; Lady Tigers tie in district match

The Morgan City Tigers defeated South Terrebonne 3-0, while the Lady Tigers played South Terrebonne to a scoreless tie, both in District 7-II action Wednesday.
In the boys’ game, the Tigers avenged an earlier 2-1 loss to the Gators in Bourg during the first round of district.
“We kept the pressure on them and kept possession of the ball for the majority of the time,” Morgan City coach Trevor Patterson said.
Morgan City scored its first goal in the 20th minute when Miguel Perez connected, and Morgan City led 1-0 at the break.
“The Gators had some chances but our back line held most of it off,” Patterson said.
Patterson said South Terrebonne “packed the center of the box” in the second half, which caused Morgan City some problems with trying to add to its lead.
However, Morgan City still managed to score later with two goals by the speedy Irving Delgado.
Morgan City (8-6-3 overall, 2-3 in district) will return to action Friday when it continues District 7-II play with a match against Ellender on the road. The contest is set to begin at approximately 7 p.m.
Morgan City 0,
South Terrebonne, 0 (girls)
Just like they had in their district matchup in the first round, Morgan City and South Terrebonne’s girls’ teams played to a tie.
However, unlike the first matchup, which ended in a 1-1 draw, the second-round contest was scoreless.
Patterson said the contest was back and forth like the team’s first match this season, and while each team had opportunities, neither defense nor goalie budged.
The Lady Tigers (4-6-3, 1-2-2) will return to action Friday when they travel to face Ellender in a 5 p.m. contest.
