Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 31, 2015, at 1 p.m., at Ibert’s Mortuary in Franklin for Richard A. Robichaux Sr., 84, a Franklin native and resident of Lafayette, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2015, in Broussard. He will be laid to rest in the Franklin Cemetery. Father Lloyd Benoit will officiate the services.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, January 31, 2015, at Ibert’s Mortuary, from 10 a.m. until time of service.
Mr. Robichaux was a veteran of the United States Army having faithfully served his country during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Hanson Memorial High School, SLI (Southwestern Louisiana Institute now UL) and received his master’s degree from LSU. Mr. Robichaux also touched the lives of countless students through his career as band director at various schools in the Acadiana area (Morgan City High School, Breaux Bridge High School and most recently, at Scott and Duson Elementary), cultivating a love of music in their hearts, retiring in 1982 following a 30 year career. He was also an avid Saints and LSU fan.
Survivors include his sons, Stephen Robichaux and Jeffrey Robichaux and his wife, Janet; two brothers, Wilson Robichaux Jr. and William Robichaux; one sister, Doris R. Martin; one grandson, Gary Robichaux; and one granddaughter, Jenny Robichaux.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Darcey Robichaux; one son, Richard “Rick” Robichaux Jr.; his parents, Wilson Robichaux Sr. and Mabel Landry Robichaux; one brother, Larry Robichaux; and two sisters, Florida R. Case and Shirley R. Spangler.
