'Hop' showing Saturday at Lawrence Park

Area residents or visitors looking for something to do Saturday night can check out a free movie in Lawrence Park in Morgan City.
Morgan City Main Street will present “Hop,” an Easter themed movie, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Lawrence Park in Morgan City, according to a news release. The movie showing is free to the public. Café JoJo’s is sponsoring the movie event.
In December 2014, Morgan City Main Street presented Disney’s Frozen in Lawrence Park.
The showing is one in a series of movie events Morgan City Main Street plans to hold during the year for families to enjoy.
Though a schedule has not yet been set for future movie showings, organizers plan to show movies in the park in the spring, fall and winter, Beth Portero of Morgan City Main Street said.
The movie will always be child-friendly. For each event, businesses will be able to apply for sponsorship.
The sponsorship fee pays for the right to play the movie in an outdoor public setting and for a port-a-potty for the event.
Families are invited to bring picnic blankets and pick a spot on the lawn in Lawrence Park. Organizers ask that lawn chairs be left at home because chairs may block others’ views.
Main Street will have a snack shack that will sell movie type foods like hot dogs, nachos, pickles, popcorn, candy and soda as a fundraiser for the program.
Sweet and Simple Cupcakes and Cakes will also have a booth set up outside to sell cupcakes, cookies and petit fours.
