Road district tax fails, all other ballot items passed

All ballot propositions except one passed in Saturday’s election.
The St. Mary Parish government’s $6.5 million bond proposal with .92 mills to support its newly created road district failed with 1,012 votes or 46.83 percent, in favor to 1,149 votes, or 53.17 percent against.
All other propositions were on tax renewals. They included:
—Law Enforcement Sub-District 1, 15 mills for 5 years, 65.71 percent or 23 votes in favor against 34.29 percent or 12 votes against.
—Consolidated School Dist. 2, 12.17 mills for 10 years, 58.72 percent or 586 votes in favor to 41.28 percent or 412 votes against.
—Consolidated School Dist. Three, 12 mills for 10 years, 56.19 percent or 622 votes in favor to 43.81 percent or 485 votes against.
—Sixth Ward Special School Dist. 3, 11.75 mills for 10 years, 61.33 percent or 322 in favor to .38.67 percent or 203 votes against.
—Consolidated Gravity Drainage District 2, 2.5 mills for 10 years, 60.87 percent or 294 votes in favor to 39.13 percent or 189 votes against.
—Waterworks District 5, 4.60 mills for 10 years, 63.20 percent or 225 votes in favor to 36.80 percent or 131 votes against.
—Ward 4 Fire Protection Dist. 2, 4 mills for 10 years, 67.28 percent or 146 votes in favor to 32.72 percent or 71 votes against.
—Sewerage District 8, 6.44 mills for 10 years, 65.65 percent or 86 votes in favor to 34.35 percent or 45 votes against.
—Mosquito Control District 1, 7.19 mills for 5 years, 94.29 percent or 33 votes in favor to 5.71 percent or 2 votes against.
