Six graduate sheriff’s level 2 POST

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Regional Training Academy graduated six cadets from its first Peace Officer Standards and Training Level 2 Certification for Basic Correctional Peace Officer Academy.
The level 2 POST curriculum is designed for peace officers whose duties are the care, custody and control of inmates. The level 2 course was conducted for the first time at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Regional Academy under director, Capt. Brian P. Charpentier. Over the course of seven weeks, cadets completed more than 280 hours of training including POST firearm certification.
Graduation certificates and awards were presented in November.
Dep. Maverick Collie received the Top Gun award for the highest average score in firearm performance.
Morgan City Police Officer Phillip Durall Jr. received the Top Athlete award for the highest average score in athletic performance.
Morgan City police officer Bonnie Duval was presented with the John Kahl Sr. Award of Excellence. This award is presented to the law enforcement officer who achieves the highest academic average.
