HMS tops Gueydan

GUEYDAN _ Paige Diamond and Noel Baker had four hits each as the Hanson Memorial Lady Tigers beat the Gueydan Honey Bears 15-5 here Thursday in District 7-1A softball.
Hanson’s Maddi Dye, Baylee Young and Sarah Sonnier combined on the win in the circle. Dye worked two innings, one run on four hits with one strikeout and no walks. Young also worked two frames, yielding three runs on five hits with five walks. Sonnier gave up one run on one hit with six strikeouts and one walk over 2.33 innings.
Diamond went 4 for 5 with a triple and three doubles with three runs and one RBI. Baker also went 4 for 5 with a double and two singles with two runs and one RBI.
Other top hitters for the HMS Lady Tigers were: Madeline Weber, 3 for 4, run, RBI; Alyssa Young, 3 for 5, double, two runs, 3 RBI; Casey Fitzgerald, 2 for 5, two doubles, two runs and 3 RBIs; Mackenzie Hebert, 3 for 5, double, run, 3 RBIs; Lunden Verdin, 2 for 4, double, run, RBI; Charlotte Pillaro, 3 for 4, double, two runs, 2 RBI and Kaylee Broussard, 3 for 4, run.
The Lady Tigers broke open a close game with 10 runs in the top half of the seventh inning. HMS opened the game with a 1-0 lead in the first inning before Gueydan tied the game at 1-1 at the end of the first inning. Hanson secured a 2-1 lead in the third frame before Gueydan rallied for three runs in the bottom half of the fourth inning to take a 4-2 lead. The Hanson Lady Tiger erupted for one run in the fifth, two more in the sixth and 10 in the seventh to ice away the easy 15-5 District 7-1A victory.
