Wooden Boat Show officials to announce Thursday morning

A decision on this year’s Sixth Bayou Teche Wooden Boat Show will be made Thursday morning.
“At this point we’re watching the weather forecast closely and it doesn’t look promising,” organizer Roger Stouff said this morning.
He said the specific characteristics of classic and many modern wooden watercraft make conditions such as those forecast for this weekend a difficult situation for owners and show organizers alike.
“Most antique wooden boats were not fitted with drain plugs,” Stouff said. “Five inches of rain, as we experienced earlier this week, would fill a hull quickly. In addition, many, many of our participants come to Franklin from all over Louisiana and several other states. They justifiably won’t be willing to transport these boats through thunderstorms and severe winds. There’s no shelter for the boats or the participants on the bayouside.”
Stouff said a final decision will be made early Thursday morning when the weather forecast is reassessed and will be announced on the show’s Facebook page and the boat show website:

He added that the show may be rescheduled, but that decision will be made later.
