2 charged with battery against officers

Two teens were charged Saturday with battery on a police officer after one shoved officers and the other jumped on an officer’s back, Morgan City Assistant Police Chief Mark Griffin Jr. said in a news release.
Griffin reported the following arrests:
—Elijah Percle, 18, of Patterson, at 2:17 a.m. Saturday on the charges of disturbing the peace intoxicated and battery on a police officer.
—Christopher Boudreaux, 19, of Franklin, at 2:17 a.m. Saturday on the charges of disturbing the peace intoxicated and battery on a police officer.
Officer responded to a disturbance at a La.182 business. Officers observed a large crowd in the parking lot. While attempting to disperse the crowd, officer encountered Percle, who was yelling.
Officers were attempting to calm Percle down when Boudreaux shoved officers in attempt to get them away from Percle, Griffin said. Officers then arrested Boudreaux at which time Percle jumped on an officer’s back, Griffin said.
Both Percle and Boudreaux were found to be intoxicated, Griffin said. Both were arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for incarceration.
—Chauncey Kinchen, 18, of Federal Avenue in Morgan City, at 7:57 p.m. Saturday on the charge of simple assault.
Officers responded to a residence on Federal Avenue due to a person refusing to leave. Officer learned during the investigation that Kinchen threatened to stab someone at the residence, Griffin said. Kinchen admitted that she did make the statement, Griffin said. Kinchen was jailed.
—Calvin Forcell, 43, of Morgan City, at 10:07 a.m. Friday on warrants charging him with failure to appear for criminal damage to property, failure to appear for stop sign violation, failure to appear for no driver’s license and failure to appear for contempt of court.
An officer conducted a traffic stop in the area of Fifth Street and Brashear Avenue. Officers identified Forcell, who was the passenger in the vehicle, and was found to have outstanding warrants for the Sixth Ward City Court of Morgan City. Forcell was jailed.
—Ronnie Johnson, 50, of Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, at 10:29 p.m. Friday on the charges of driving under suspension and stop sign violation.
An officer conducted a traffic stop in the area of Headland Street near Railroad Avenue. An officer identified Johnson, who failed to stop at a stop sign, according to the police report. Johnson was jailed and released after posting cash bail.
—Antonio Campbell, 27, of Morgan City, at 8:48 p.m. Saturday on warrants charging him with possession of marijuana and window tint violation. An officer stopped a vehicle on La. 182 near Roderick Street for suspected illegal window tint. Campbell was jailed.
—David Martinez, 50, of Lafayette, at 3:14 a.m. Sunday on a warrant charging him with failure to appear for failure to pay fines.
An officer observed Martinez looking into the window of a closed business on Front Street. Officers stopped to investigate and found Martinez to have outstanding warrants for the Sixth Ward City Court of Morgan City. Martinez was jailed.
—Joquisha Mingo, 28, of Ciro Street in Morgan City, at 11:37 p.m. Sunday on the charges of no driver’s license, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of Schedule II cocaine and unauthorized use of a movable.
Officers observed Mingo driving a vehicle in the area of Brashear Avenue. The officer knew Mingo did not have a valid driver’s license.
The officer attempted to stop Mingo as she was pulling into the parking lot of a Brashear Avenue business. The officer spoke with the owner of the vehicle who stated that he did not give Mingo permission to drive the vehicle, Griffin said.
Officer also located a pipe used to smoke illegal narcotics and a small amount of suspected crack cocaine in a purse belonging to Mingo, Griffin said. Mingo was jailed.
—Caffery Williams, 49, of Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, at 1:35 a.m. Sunday on the charge of driving under suspension.
Officers responded to a Second Street business due to a person wanting to fight with people, Griffin said. Officers were advised that the subject left the area and were given a description of the vehicle. Officers located the vehicle in the area of Union Street and identified Williams as the driver. Williams was jailed.
—Ward Carlson, 54, of Fourth Street in Morgan City, at 3:05 p.m. Sunday on the charges of expired driver’s license, red light violation, possession of alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle, operating a vehicle while intoxicated and possession of Schedule I marijuana.
An officer observed a vehicle fail to stop at a red light near Federal and Brashear avenues. The officer stopped the vehicle and identified Carlson as the driver.
The officer could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. Officers also found an open can of alcohol in Carlson’s vehicle, Griffin said. Carlson did poorly on a field sobriety test, Griffin said. After Carlson was arrested, suspected marijuana was located in Carlson’s pocket, Griffin said.
Carlson registered 0.242 grams-percent blood alcohol concentration on the Intoxilyzer 5000 test with the results. Carlson was jailed.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Robert J. Parker, 34, of the 2600 block of Fourth Street in Berwick, at 11:27 p.m. Monday on the charge of driving with driver’s license suspended. Parker was jailed on $359 bail pending Berwick charges.
—Rickey T. Stroud, 35, of the 700 block of Kem Street in Patterson, at 5:52 p.m. Monday on the charges of three counts of theft. Stroud was transferred to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville with no bail set.
—Kenneth Kiff Jr., 29, of the 1000 block of Red Cypress Road in Patterson, at 6:25 p.m. Monday on the charges of two counts of theft. Kiff was jailed with no bail set.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 34 complaints in the parish and reported no arrests in east St. Mary Parish.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
