Colley wins at state shooting competition

A St. Mary Parish 4-H’er has won the Junior Division in the Archery Recurve Sighted Modified FITA at the 4-H State Shooting Sports Competition held in Shreveport and Grand Cane.
Rosemarie Colley picked up the honor.
The competition she won involves using a traditional recurve bow equipped with sights. Target distances include 10, 15, and 20 meters.
4-H Shooting Sports is a growing sport not only in Louisiana but nationally.
Through certified instructors, 4-H’ers are taught marksmanship, the safe and responsible use of firearms, the principles of hunting and archery and more.
Disciplines taught in St. Mary Parish include BB, air rifle, smallbore rifle, archery and shotgun.
4-H’ers can compete at the Regional and State levels.
Those who qualify can compete at the National level.
St. Mary 4-H’ers who competed in 2015 included Brawley Andrews, Gage Battaglio, Remington Begley, Dylan Bergeron, Nicholas Bergeron, Colley, Jack Colley, McKaila Darden, Joseph Lange, Bryce Miguez, David Nugent and Carl Taylor Stirling.
