St. Mary Nationals notch win in Regional 15U Tournament

OZARK, Alabama _ The St. Mary Sheriff’s Nationals opened the Dixie Boys & Majors Baseball 2015 Regional 15U Tournament with a 9-6 victory over Russell County here Thursday at Eagle Stadium.
St. Mary, the 2015 Louisiana State Champion, opened the 2015 Regional 15U Division Tournament with a 9-6 victory over Russell County as part of the 12-team field on Thursday. Members of the St. Mary Nationals are: Jack Vaccarella, Brent Ina, Kade Daigle, Brandt Lightsey, Manon Mendoza, Matthew LeBourgeois, Coach Paul Frost, Brock Broussard, Josh Frost, Skyler Fitch, Brian Sonnier, Coach Ryan Fitch, Lamar Joseph, Peyton Trahan, Chase Mensman and Manager Christian Steiner.
The St. Mary Nationals notched their first win in the second game of the tournament. In the opener, South Dale defeated Cottonwood, Alabama 7-0. The St. Mary Nationals then pinned a 9-6 loss on Russell County in Game 2. In Game 3, the Wiregrass Cardinals stormed past Cottondale, Florida, 15-0. Bay Minette toppled Greenville 9-4 in Game 4. Polk City, Florida stopped Thomasville, 13-1 in Game 5 prior to Luvern nipping host Ozark, 5-4 in Game 6.
Six games are on tap today with Cottondale, Florida battling Greenville in the opener in the loser’s bracket at 9 a.m. At 11 a.m., Thomasville and Ozark will also battle in the loser’s bracket.
Today’s action in the winner’s bracket will pit St. Mary, Louisiana against Southdale at 1 p.m. Action will continue in the winner’s bracket with the Wiregrass Cardinals squaring off against Bay Minette at 4 p.m. Two games are scheduled for 6 p.m. with Polk City, Florida meeting Luverne in the winner’s bracket while Cottonwood, Alabama and Russell County set to meet in the loser’s bracket.
The 2015 Regional Baseball Tournament is hosted by the Ozark, Alabama community in historic Eagle Stadium and Steagall Park.
Eagle Park was built in 1946 and has been home to minor league teams and players who moved up to the major league.
The Dixie Boys & Majors Baseball 2015 Regional 15U Division Tournament will continue through June Monday with a winner being crowned.
