Berwick man booked in sexual assault case

A 43-year-old Bayou Vista man was arrested Thursday on a warrant for forcible rape with a juvenile female, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—William Frederick, 43, of the 300 block of David Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 1:43 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for forcible rape. On Oct. 29, 2015, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office received a report of rape.
The detective assigned to the case gathered evidence indicating Frederick had non-consensual sexual intercourse with a juvenile female over the course of several years. The victim was 12 years old when the abuse began.
According to the detective’s investigation, the most recent incident of sexual abuse occurred in November 2014. Frederick came to the sheriff’s office in Morgan City in reference to the investigation.
After speaking with detectives, Frederick was arrested on the warrant. No bail is set. This investigation is ongoing and more charges are pending.
Hebert reported responding to 52 complaints and reported the following arrests:
—David Ackman, 35, of the 700 block of Julia Street in Amelia, at 6:42 a.m. Thursday on the charges of illegal use of a weapon, possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain felonies, violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zone), and possession of Schedule II (methamphetamine).
A deputy responded to a report of a caller hanging up after contacting 911. Upon arrival at Julia Street, the deputy heard gun shots coming from inside.
The deputy also observed that one round had travelled through the front door, breaking the glass storm door. The deputy made contact with the sole occupant of the residence and identified him as Ackman.
Other deputies responding to the scene located a handgun and spent rounds inside the residence. Ackman told deputies that someone was trying to kill him.
Deputies found no evidence of any other subjects being in or around the residence. Through further investigation, deputies learned Ackman had been using methamphetamines prior to firing the weapon.
Deputies also discovered Ackman is a convicted felon. During Ackman’s arrest, deputies located a small bag containing methamphetamine on his person.
Ackman’s residence, where the investigation took place, is near an elementary school. No bail is set.
—Juvenile male, 11, of Patterson, at 3:16 p.m. Thursday for simple criminal damage to property.
—Juvenile male, 13, of Patterson, at 3:34 p.m. for simple criminal damage to property.
A deputy began an investigation into a complaint of property damage at a residence in Patterson. The deputy identified the two juvenile males as the subjects caught on surveillance video throwing rocks at the residence and breaking a window.
Following the investigation and arrests, the juveniles were released to their guardians pending juvenile court proceedings.
—Roger Grow, 47, of the 1500 block of U.S. 90 West, in Patterson, at 1:09 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for criminal neglect of family (failure to pay child support). A deputy went to the above listed residence and made contact with Grow while conducting a follow up investigation on a separate complaint.
While there, the deputy located an active warrant for Grow’s arrest. Grow was transported to the parish jail for booking. Bail is set at $24,757.25.
—Jimmy McGraw, 36, of the 1000 block of Red Cypress Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 8:01 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family (failure to pay child support). A deputy made contact with McGraw at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City and located the active warrant for his arrest. Bail is set at $22,615.43.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Frank Johnson, 49, of Louisiana Street in Morgan City, at 10:50 a.m. Thursday on warrants with Sixth Ward Court for probation violation, failure to pay probation fee, and failure to appear to pay fines. An officer patrolling the area of Fifth Street near Louisiana Street observed Johnson in the area.
A warrants check revealed that the Morgan City Police Dept. held arrest warrants for Johnson. Johnson was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Dept. where he was booked and jailed.
—David Morgan, 34, of Pine Hill, Iowa, at 4:19 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for first-degree rape and a warrant with Sixth Ward Court for failure to appear for disturbing the peace. Morgan was transported to the Morgan City Police Department jail from Iowa, in regards to active arrest warrants for Morgan held by Morgan City Police Department.
One of these warrants stemmed from an investigation conducted by the Morgan City Police Detective Division based on a complaint reported in August 2015. It is alleged that Morgan had raped female victims, currently ages 13 and 9 years of age on multiple occasions since 2009. The investigation is continuing. Morgan was booked into the Morgan City Police Department jail and remains incarcerated on a $100,000 bond.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Tony Weston, 40, of Johnson Drive in Berwick, at 10:11 p.m. Thursday on charges of disturbing the peace intoxication (ninth offense), domestic abuse battery, and simple assault. Weston remains in jail. No bail is set.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
