Man jailed on domestic abuse charge

A 20-year-old Morgan City man was arrested this morning after being accused of hitting his girlfriend with a broom handle at an apartment complex, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Bradley R. Jamieson, 20, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:34 a.m. today on the charges of aggravated domestic abuse, appearing in public intoxicated, disturbing the peace and simple criminal damage to property.
Officers were dispatched to a local apartment complex in regard to a domestic disturbance. Officers arrived and spoke to the victim, who stated that she and her boyfriend, Jamieson, had gotten into a verbal altercation.
The altercation turned physical when Jamieson began to strike the victim with a broom handle, Blair said. Officers noticed marks on the victim consistent with the statements that was given. Officers located Jamieson, who appeared intoxicated, outside of the apartment. Jamieson was jailed.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Jessie J. Hebert, 36, of Pierre Part, was arrested at 1:11 a.m. Saturday on the charge of domestic abuse battery.
Officers were dispatched to a hotel on Roderick Street in regard to removing individuals from the property. Officers arrived and made contact with management, who stated there was a female battery victim there, Blair said.
Officers spoke to the victim, who stated Hebert, her ex-boyfriend, followed her outside and shoved her to the ground. Police located Hebert, who allegedly admitted to the battery, Blair said. Hebert was jailed.
—Rachel L. King, 31, of Fifth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:19 a.m. Saturday on a warrant charging her with two counts of failure to appear.
Officers located King in the area of Fifth and Everett streets. King held active warrants for the Sixth Ward City Court. King was jailed.
—Damon M. Allen, 45, of Shannon Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:24 a.m. Sunday on the charges of resisting an officer and possession of drug paraphernalia.
An officer patrolling the area of Fifth and Everett streets noticed an individual running from behind a home. When the officer approached, he continued to run away, Blair said. The individual, identified as Allen, was located on Everett Street. Allen had items used to smoke illegal narcotics on him, Blair said. Allen was jailed.
—Curtis J. Robinson, 45, of Fourth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:10 p.m. Sunday on the charges of remaining after being forbidden and appearing in an intoxicated condition.
Officers located Robinson at a home on Fifth Street where he had previously been barred. Officers approached Robinson and could smell a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, Blair said. Robinson was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 114 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Effie Wiltz, 31, of the 600 block of Sixth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:09 p.m. Friday on warrants for failure to appear on the charge of attempted possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, failure to appear on the charge of introducing or possessing contraband in any municipal or parish prison or jail, and for failure to appear on the charge of unauthorized use of an access card.
Wiltz was transported from the Jeanerette Police Department to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail is set at $300,000.
—Tony Myers, 26, of the 100 block of Todd Lane in Patterson, was arrested at 2:51 p.m. Friday for violation of the leash law parish ordinance. A deputy responded to a complaint of a loose dog on Todd Lane in Patterson. The deputy learned that Myers’ dog was not on a leash and had been roaming the neighborhood, Hebert said. Myers was released on a summons to appear in court Feb. 11.
—Dava Leonard, 34, of the 400 block of Henry Street in Patterson, was arrested at 8:58 p.m. Friday on the charges of entering contraband into a penal institution and possession of a schedule III narcotic. Leonard reported to the parish jail to serve a sentence for drug court.
During booking deputes conducted a search and found that Leonard had a white pill in her front pant pocket. The pill was identified as being a schedule III narcotic, Hebert said. Leonard was jailed with no bail set.
—Heriberto Lastra-Osorio, 35, of the 100 block of West Side Park Lane in Amelia, was arrested at 9:36 p.m. Saturday on the charges of careless operation of a motor vehicle, no driver’s license, and failure to provide proof of liability insurance.
A deputy assigned to patrol the Jeanerette area responded to a traffic incident on U.S. 90 and La. 318.
The deputy made contact with the driver, Lastra-Osorio, and found that he did not have a driver’s license and did not have insurance on the vehicle he was operating.
Lastra-Osorio had been observed by a witness to be continuously swerving in and out of the left-hand lane.
Lastra-Osorio was released on a summons to appear in court Feb. 11.
—Joseph Bias, 58, of the 100 block of Guzzetta Drive in Berwick, was arrested at 7:46 p.m. Sunday for failure to appear on charges of aggravated battery and possession of marijuana.
Bias turned himself in to a booking deputy at the parish jail. No bail is set.
—Justin Lacaze, 23, of the 900 block of U.S. 90 East in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 2:16 a.m. today for two counts of theft of goods. A deputy assigned to patrol the Bayou Vista area responded to a shoplifting complaint at a business.
The deputy learned that Lacaze took bottles of liquor without paying for them and then ran away from security personnel. Lacaze also confessed to stealing liquor from the same business Nov. 3, Hebert said. Lacaze was jailed with no bail set.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Erik Looney, 37, of Federal Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:13 a.m. today on the charges of speeding 64 mph in a 45 mph zone, driving under suspension, open container and resisting an officer. Looney has a preset bail of $2,750.
—Kaci Henry, 28, of Hilda Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:23 a.m. Sunday on the charge of tail lamps required, no proof of insurance and driving under suspension. Henry was released on $150 bail.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Christopher Cartwright, 33, of the 16200 block of Canaridge Drive in Houston, was arrested at 1:27 a.m. today on the charges of driving while intoxicated first offense, speeding 70 mph in a 55 mph zone and open container. Cartwright was jailed with no bail set yet.
