Two women booked on cruelty to juvenile charges

Two Morgan City women were arrested on a warrant for second-degree cruelty to a 3-year-old juvenile, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Tamra Manning, 33, of First Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:32 a.m. Monday on a charge of second-degree cruelty to a juvenile.
—Danielle Bennett, 26, of First Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:39 a.m. Monday on a charge of second-degree cruelty to a juvenile.
Detectives with the Morgan City Police Department executed a search warrant at an address on First Street. Bennett and Manning were located at the residence and arrested on warrants held for their arrest by Morgan City police.
The warrants were obtained as a result of an investigation conducted by Morgan City Police Department Detectives. The incident was reported Thursday. Bennett and Manning were accused of second-degree cruelty to a juvenile 3 years of age.
Both Bennett and Manning were transported to the Morgan City Police Department. They were booked, incarcerated and each held on a $500,000 bond. The matter is still under investigation.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Milton Hernandez, 30, of Willard Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:02 p.m. Saturday on charges of driver must be licensed, no turn signal, and tail lamps required. A patrol officer in the area of Federal and Brashear avenues observed a vehicle with improper lighting.
A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Hernandez, was asked to produce a valid driver’s license. A computer check revealed that Hernandez did not have a driver’s license.
Hernandez was placed un-der arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and was jailed.
—Charles W. Walker, 39, of Lafayette, was arrested at 12:10 a.m. Sunday on the charges of license plate light required, improper lane usage, possession of alcoholic beverage in vehicle and operating a vehicle while intoxicated. A patrol officer in the area of Seventh Street and Ditch Avenue observed a vehicle cross the center line.
A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Walker, was asked to produce a valid driver’s license. While talking to Walker, the officer could smell a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath.
Walker was asked to per-form the standardized field sobriety test, in which he performed poorly. Walker was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department.
Once at the police department, Walker was asked to submit to the chemical test for intoxication. Walker’s results indicated a .132 grams percent blood alcohol content.
Walker was then charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
—Erik Alejo, 41, of Willow Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:08 a.m. Sunday on the charge of domestic abuse battery by strangulation. Officers were dispatched to a residence on Willow Street in regard to a domestic disturbance.
When officers arrived, they spoke to the victim, who stated that she and her husband, Alejo, had gotten into a verbal altercation.
The verbal altercation led to Alejo slapping her in the face, shoving her to the floor, and choking her. Officers observed marks on the victim’s neck and facial area consistent with her statements.
Officers located Alejo in-side the residence. According to reports, Alejo admitted to choking the victim. Alejo was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and was jailed.
—Fran M. Keller, 52, of Napoleonville, was arrested at 11:53 a.m. Saturday on the charges of appearing in public intoxicated and a warrant for failure to appear disturbing the peace intoxicated.
Keller was located on Vic-tor II Boulevard and appeared to be intoxicated. A warrants check was done on Keller and it was determined that she held an active warrant for the Sixth Ward City Court.
Keller was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and was jailed.
—Timothy B. McKinley, 32, of Taylorsville, Mississippi, was arrested at 6:35 p.m. Sunday on the charges of engaging in a fistic encounter and simple assault.
—Jeffery L. Mayon, 51, of Sixth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:35 p.m. Sunday on the charge of engaging in a fistic encounter. Officers were dispatched to a residence on Sixth Street in regard to a disturbance.
When officers arrived, they came into contact with Mayon and McKinley. Officers observed both subjects appeared intoxicated. According to reports, both Mayon and McKinley admitted to fighting.
Officers did witness McKinley make a verbal threat towards Mayon. Ma-yon and McKinley were both placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and were jailed.
—Mary V. McIntosh, 52, of Keith Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:06 p.m. Sunday on the charges of appearing in public intoxicated, simple battery and resisting an officer. Officers were dispatched to the area of Fourth Street near Everett Street in regard to a disturbance in the roadway.
When officers arrived, they spoke to the victim, who stated that McIntosh had come to her residence and committed a battery on her. Officers did observe a mark on the victim consistent with her statement.
Officers located McIntosh in the area and she appeared intoxicated. Reports indicate that McIntosh admitted to going to the residence and committing the battery.
When the officer tried to place McIntosh under arrest, she pulled away, but was subdued. McIntosh was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and was jailed.
—Agustin C. Gutierrez, 32, of Terrebonne Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:15 p.m. Sunday on the charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, possession of alcoholic beverages in a motor vehicle, driver must be licensed, and improper lane usage.
—Samuel A. Vargas, 24, of Terrebonne Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:15 p.m. Sunday on the charge of possession of alcoholic beverages in a motor vehicle. A patrol officer in the area of La. 182 near the U.S. 90 Junction observed a vehicle swerving in and out of the lane.
A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Gutierrez, was asked to produce a valid driver’s license. While speaking to Gutierrez, the officer could smell an odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath.
A computer check revealed that Gutierrez did not have a driver’s license. Gutierrez was also asked to perform the standard field sobriety test, but refused.
Open containers of alcoholic beverages were located on both the driver’s and passenger’s sides of the vehicle. The passenger, Vargas, and Gutierrez were both placed under arrest.
Once at the police department, Gutierrez was asked to submit to the chemical test for intoxication, but refused. He was then charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
—Brandon O. Nelson, 28, of Napoleonville, was arrested at 10:09 a.m. Monday on the charges for failure to appear for no driver’s license, failure to appear for disturbing the peace, failure to appear for no vehicle insurance, and failure to appear switched license plate.
Nelson was transported to the Morgan City Police Department from the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office Detention Center for arrest warrants held by Morgan City Police. Nelson was booked into the Morgan City Police Department Jail and incarcerated.
—Joseph M. Price, 43, of Levee Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:24 a.m. Monday on the charges for failure to appear to pay fine for criminal trespassing and contempt of court. Price was located by an officer in the area of Federal Avenue near Willow Street at which time Price was arrested on warrants held by Morgan City Police.
Price was transported to the Morgan City Police Department Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.
—John A. Clark, 49, of Fourth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:14 p.m. Monday on the charges of domestic abuse battery and simple battery. Officers with the Morgan City Police Department responded to an address on Fourth Street in regard to a report of a disturbance which resulted in a battery.
The officer arrived and located Clark along with two female victims on scene. Reports indicate that the victims told the officer that they were at the residence when an argument had taken place between one of the victims and Clark.
The victim had reportedly lived with Clark for several years. During the argument, Clark pushed the female into a wall then walked over to the other victim and spit in her face.
This same information was reported to the officer by several witnesses. Clark was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and jailed.
—Terry M. Menard, 56, of Fourth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:32 p.m. Monday on the charge of simple battery. An officer responded to an address on Fourth Street in regard to a report of a battery.
The officer located Menard, along with the victim and a witness to the incident. The officer was told by the victim and witness that an argument over a beer had taken place between Menard and the victim.
Menard then struck the victim several times in the facial area. Reports indicate that marks consistent with a battery were observed on the victim. Menard was then placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and jailed.
—Ronald W. Johnson, 24, of Bayou Vista, was arrested at 7:32 a.m. today on the charge of domestic abuse battery. Johnson came into the Morgan City Police Department to turn himself in on an active warrant held by Morgan City Police.
Johnson was booked into the Morgan City Police Department Jail and incarcerated.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Chelsey Michelle Cook, 28, of the 700 block of Main Street in Patterson, was arrested at 11:23 p.m. Monday on the charges of aggravated battery on a police officer and disturbing the peace intoxicated. Cook remains jailed. No bail is set.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 41 complaints and reported no arrests for east St. Mary Parish.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
