Man arrested on methamphetamine charge

A 40-year old Morgan City man was arrested Tuesday after officers found methamphetamine at a residence, said Morgan City Police Chief James Blair in a news release.
Lucius P. Romero, 40, of North Third Street in Morgan City was arrested at 2:55 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of possession of Schedule II methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance law, and warrants for failure to pay fines and failure to appear for remaining after being forbidden.
The Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Division, with the assistance of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division executed a search warrant on a residence on North Third Street. Entry was made and officers located Romero barricaded in one of the bedrooms.
Romero was detained and officers searched the residence. Officers located suspected methamphetamine and items used to smoke illegal narcotics.
Romero was named in active warrants for the 6th Ward City Court. Romero also was charged with violation of controlled dangerous substance law because the residence is located within 2,000 feet of an elementary school.
Romero was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Jarod D. Hope, 25, of New Iberia, at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday on warrants for failure to appear (driving under suspension), failure to appear (resisting an officer) and failure to appear (no head lights).
Hope was transported from the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center to the Morgan City Police Department for active warrants for the 6th Ward City Court. Hope was booked and jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 39 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Dwayne Clark, 43, of the 100 block of Lenny’s Lane in Amelia, at 8:28 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of failure to signal a lane change and driving under suspension.
A deputy patrolling the Amelia area observed the driver of a vehicle fail to signal a lane change on U.S. 90. A traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with the driver, Clark.
During the course of the stop, it was discovered that Clark’s license was suspended. Clark was transported to the parish jail for booking. Bail is set at $1,250.
—Alton Kemp, 29, of the 400 block of Verdun Lane in Verdunville, at 8:28 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant charging him with telephone harassment. A deputy conducting a traffic stop made contact with the passenger of a vehicle, Kemp, and learned of the active warrant for his arrest. The warrant stems from an investigation conducted by the Morgan City Police Department. Kemp was jailed with no bail set.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Koby Blair, 17, of Marcell Drive in Morgan City, at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of improper lane usage with a crash, hit and run and a warrant from St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office for reckless operation. Blair remains in jail. Bail is set at $7,500.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Charles Gerard Sheehan, 53, of the 500 block of Carrol Road in Bayou Vista, at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday on a warrant from St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office for issuing worthless checks (three counts). Sheehan was released on bail at $1,000.
