Second sister arrested in 'rolling meth lab' case

A 31-year-old Amelia woman was charged with operating a meth lab inside a vehicle and arson in connection with a March 23 car fire on the U.S. 90 bridge in Morgan City, Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Pearl Ross, 31, of North Verret Street in Amelia, was arrested at 2:36 p.m. Thursday on warrants charging her with creation of a clandestine lab and simple arson.
The warrants stem from an investigation into the operation of a suspected “rolling meth lab,” Blair said. On March 23, officers were called to the U.S. 90 bridge in Morgan City for a vehicle fire. Officers arrived along with first responders, who located Ross outside of the vehicle, Blair said.
Ross sustained injuries from a fire inside the vehicle. She was flown to a burn unit in Baton Rouge after the fire.
Officers located items used to make methamphetamine, Blair said. Ross admitted to officers that she was attempting to make methamphetamine when the vehicle caught fire, Blair said. On Thursday, Ross was booked into the Morgan City Police Department Jail and released.
Ross’ twin sister, Jewel Ross, was arrested March 23 on a warrant charging her with creation and operation of a clandestine lab in connection with the incident. Jewel Ross sustained minor injuries and refused medical treatment, Blair said.
On March 30, Jewel Ross was additionally charged with principal to simple arson stemming from the same incident.
Blair reported the following arrest:
—Felicia Young, 42, of Joseph Street in Morgan City, at 10:21 a.m. Thursday on a warrant charging her with contempt of court.
Young was located by officer of the Morgan City Police Department and placed under arrest on warrants from City Court of Morgan City for failure to appear for a review hearing. Young was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 39 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Jacob Domangue, 32, of the 2400 block of Cypress Street in Morgan City, at 11:19 a.m. Thursday on charge of aggravated battery. A detective learned that Domangue, an inmate currently housed at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on unrelated charges, struck a corrections officer with a food tray, Hebert said. Domangue remains at the parish jail with bail set at $150,000.
—Christian Garrett, 28, of the 100 block of Mallard Street in Morgan City, at 2:47 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for failure to appear on charges of domestic abuse battery. Garrett was transported from the Caldwell Parish Detention Center in Grayson and brought to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
—Trampas LaPoint, 28, of the 3100 block of Roseline Street in Morgan City, at 1:10 p.m. Thursday on the charges of driving under the influence first offense, resisting an officer by flight, resisting an officer by force and battery on an officer.
A deputy patrolling the Bayou Vista area responded to multiple reports of a reckless driver on U.S. 90. The vehicle was located and a traffic stop was initiated. The driver of the vehicle failed to pull over and continued to travel on U.S. 90, Hebert said.
Ultimately, the driver stopped his vehicle in a business parking lot, and the deputy made contact with the driver, LaPoint. During the encounter, LaPoint became combative and struck a deputy, Hebert said. LaPoint was transported to the hospital for medical evaluation as he showed signs of impairment, Hebert said. He was given a court date of March 7 as he continued medical treatment.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Linsey Holliman, 28, of Morgan City at 1:30 a.m. today on the charges of hit and run, and careless operation with a crash. Holliman was released on bail.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Patrick Augman, 41, of the 1300 block of Ninth Street in Patterson, at 9:04 a.m. Thursday on a warrant charging him with theft by shoplifting. Augman was jailed on $1,000 bail.
